Mary Lou "Lou" Robertson

December 15, 1952 -- September 1, 2024

Mary Lou "Lou" Robertson passed away on September 1, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on December 15, 1952, to the late Wayne and Minnie (Morris) Roberts, Lou grew up in the vibrant community of East Green Bay, where she graduated from East Green Bay High School. Her early years were marked by a strong sense of duty and a desire to serve her country. Lou's commitment to service was evident in her distinguished career with the United States Air Force, where she was integral in managing military arsenal supplies as a Technical Sergeant. Her bravery and strategic acumen were showcased during her deployment in Desert Storm. After a commendable 20 years of service, Lou retired from the Air Force. Following her military career, Lou worked at the Fort Worth Paper Company in Green Bay and married Mitch Robertson, which sparked their move to Vernon County. She then joined the team at Vernon Memorial Hospital, where for ten years she served as the purchaser of supplies.

Lou's zest for life extended beyond her professional endeavors. She was an avid traveler with a particular fondness for Okinawa, Japan, where she immersed herself in the culture and beauty of the island. Her passion for cooking was a facet of her generous spirit; she found joy in preparing meals and sharing them with others. An angler at heart, Lou cherished the serene moments spent fishing on the Mississippi River with her husband, Mitch. It was on these tranquil waters that she found solace and a deep connection with nature. The most important things to Lou were her family, friends, and her dogs, which carried over her compassion, kindness, and dedication as a member of the Viroqua Eagles Auxiliary 2707.

Lou is survived by her daughter, Heather Baumbach (Destin Nygard); grandson, Charlie Lenser; brothers-in-law, Terry (Michele) Robertson and Randy (Sandra) Robertson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Mitch.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the local humane society.

A Celebration of Lou's life will be held at the Viroqua Eagles on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 12 p.m. (noon) to 3 p.m. Lou will be laid to rest at Walnut Mound Cemetery following the celebration with military honors. Online condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
