The Chatham Christian Flames tied for third place, their best finish ever, at the Ontario Christian Secondary School Athletic Association senior boys' volleyball tournament on the weekend in Belleville.
The Flames lost to Smithville 2-1 (25-18, 12-25, 15-13) in a semifinal. Both losing semifinalists shared third place.
The Flames also beat Quinte 2-0 (25-21, 25-13), Emmanuel 2-0 (25-6, 25-15) and Heritage 2-0 (25-18, 25-15) in the playoffs at the 20-team tournament.
They placed second in their pool and fifth overall in pool play by beating Toronto Christian and Rehoboth 2-0, tying Durham Christian 1-1 and losing to eventual gold medallist Hamilton Christian 2-0.
The Flames will host the OFSAA 'A' championship Nov. 21 to 23.
