OU football injury report: Deion Burks update for Red River Rivalry vs. Texas

NORMAN -- OU football was hoping to use its bye week last week to answer some injury questions and Texas is hoping to get quarterback Quinn Ewers back ahead of the Red River Rivalry.

When the No. 18 Sooners face the No. 1 Longhorns on Saturday, they'll need as many healthy players as possible. The SEC released the first version of this week's student athlete availability report Wednesday night.

Here is this week's initial availability report for OU and Texas:

Sooners wide receiver Deion Burks, who missed the Auburn game due to a soft tissue injury, is listed as questionable to play against the Longhorns.

"I feel good, from a receiver standpoint, that we'll have some guys back in a few weeks," Venables said during his weekly coach's show Monday. "We'll see where Burks is here in the next couple of days."

Ewers is listed as probable to play. The Longhorns' starting quarterback has missed the Longhorns' last two games with an abdominal strain.

OU true freshman running back Taylor Tatum was not listed on the report, meaning he's available to play. Tatum showed signs early he could be a consistent contributor but also missed the game against the Tigers after exiting the Tennessee game with an injury.

SEC teams must file their reports Wednesday before a Saturday conference game and update them daily until 90 minutes before kickoff.

KICKOFF: 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas (ABC)
