Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Bug Instantly Completes New Archie's Frenzy Event

Crossover fighters always sound awesome on paper. The concept of throwing a bunch of beloved characters into an arena and letting them duke it out appeals to the base desires of many gamers, with it hearkening back to heated schoolyard conversations about which superhero could defeat who in a fight. But while the concept is foolproof, many crossover fighters can stumble into issues when it comes to executing on that vision, and that was the case with PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

Despite having icons like Nathan Drake, Kratos, Raiden, Jak and Daxter, and Sackboy, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale couldn't quite stick the landing upon its 2012 launch. Along with a lack of content, a disappointing story mode, and a fairly small roster, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale's KO system drew a lot of heat at the time of its release, only allowing players to knock-out opponents with super moves. That being said, a PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale sequel could do very well in this modern live-service era, and it'd have a bevy of new PlayStation icons to use for the roster. Though, one new addition would probably end up stealing the show.

Astro Bot Is an Underdog Who's Finally Getting His Flowers

Making his debut in 2013, Astro Bot has been around for a lot longer than some fans might realize. An army of identitcal Astro Bot clones first appeared in 2013's The Playroom, a collection of minigames for the PS4 designed to showcase the PlayStation Camera and the DualShock 4's capabilities. 2016's The Playroom VR brought the army of Astro Bots back to showcase the power of PlayStation VR.

Astro Bot's first big break came in 2018 with the launch of Astro Bot Rescue Mission, a PSVR-exclusive that earned critical acclaim. But due to the limited installed base of the PSVR, Astro Bot still wouldn't be noticed by many players until 2020's Astro's Playroom, a free pack-in platformer for the PlayStation 5 that quickly became a must-play title for all PS5 users due to its tight platforming mechanics, its fan-service, and its implementation of the DualSense's unique features.

But 2024 has finally handed Astro Bot (and developer Team Asobi) the win he rightfully deserves. Released back in September, Astro Bot earned universal acclaim, and its recent Game of the Year win at the 2024 Game Awards has finally cemented the character as one of PlayStation's new flagship mascots.

Astro Bot Could Have Some Powerful Abilities in a PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale 2

If a PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale 2 were to release in the near future, Astro Bot would be an almost guaranteed pick for its roster. And while his cutesy appearance might have fans doubting Astro Bot's abilities in combat, appearances can be deceiving.

Astro Bot presents players with a wide variety of power-ups during the course of the game. Most of these power-ups could be used by Astro as a form of attack in a hypothetical PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale 2. Astro's Twin-Frog Gloves could punch opponents from afar, while his Barkster the Bulldog jetpack could propel him across the arena. The Monkey Climber power-up could be used to grab items or throw adversaries, and the Elephant Hose-Nose could suck up enemies and fire them off the arena.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

All-Stars Battle Royale was developed by SuperBot Entertainment and had a lot of hype behind it in the build-up to its release as it was dubbed Sony's answer to Super Smash Bros.

The fighting game featured numerous iconic PlayStation characters, such as Kratos, Nathan Drake, Sackboy, and Sly Cooper.
