Lenoir City breaks ground on police and fire training center

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) -- If you live in Loudon County a new facility is breaking ground to help better serve its residents. The new facility in Lenoir City will train all local law enforcement and fire personnel.

This new building will feature a fire training tower along with an indoor gun range. Firefighters and police currently have to travel to Blount County for training.

It will be named the Don W. White Training Center for the current Lenoir City Police Chief. Lenoir City Mayor Tony Aikens said the groundbreaking was a watershed moment for the city and the county.

"It's not just Lenoir City's," Aikens said. "It's a great day for Lenoir City and Loudon County."
