Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount in contention to play against Crystal Palace - Erik ten Hag

Hojlund, 21, has been out since suffering a hamstring injury in July, while Mount, 25, has missed the last two games also with a hamstring problem.

But both recently returned to first-team training and Ten Hag says he is considering their immediate inclusion.

"Very good news they are back on pitch, back in team training, we have to decide if they are fit enough to start, very pleasing they are back," Ten Hag said. "Many games in this block to cover. We have to make the final call, they did a couple of trainings, we have to see how they recover. Then we will make the final call tomorrow."

Manchester United sustained heavy injuries during the last campaign, and Ten Hag knows he needs to be cautious on their reintegration.

"Careful and top football? You always go to boundaries," he said. "It's not avoidable but when you have a full squad available it's easier to manage the load... We have to overload them, we hope we can integrate them in a very careful way."

Ten Hag also said Marcus Rashford's return to scoring form will breed confidence among his team. Rashford went 12 United games without a goal before finding the net at Southampton, and then adding a confident brace against League Cup opposition Barnsley in midweek.

"Very good, of course, your striker starting to score when the season is very young. Strikers they need that belief. Very good for the team. It will strengthen their belief."
