Garrett Wilson Did Not Hold Back on What Happened to Jets in Loss to 49ers

Even with a healthy Aaron Rodgers, the New York Jets still failed to get a win on Monday against the San Francisco 49ers, who were simply stronger, better, and played with more cohesion than the AFC East franchise. The reigning NFC champions took down Rodgers and the Jets at Levi's Stadium, 32-19, a loss that New York wide receiver Garrett Wilson with an eye-opening realization.

"We're not there yet. They whooped our a -- today," Wilson told reporters after the game, per Connor Hughes of SNY.

The Jets had their moments in the 49ers game but overall, San Francisco was not seriously threatened by New York once Jordan Mason and company got going. New York got a four-point lead in the first quarter after Breece Hall rushed for a touchdown then it was all 49ers from that point until the end.

San Francisco played without injured superstar running back Christian McCaffrey, but Mason stepped up and ran all over the Jets for 147 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries. The Jets gave up 401 total yards to San Francisco, which was way more than what they gave up on average in 2023 (292.3 per game).

As for the Jets' offense, Rodgers passed for just 167 yards and a touchdown on 13-of-21 completions. The future Hall of Famer also got intercepted. Rodgers connected with only three receivers -- the fewest he's had ever in an NFL game -- with Wilson turning 11 targets into just six catches and 60 yards.

The Jets will look to score their first win this season again in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans on the road.
