Portland's final few days of summer look clear, warm with possible morning fog

With only a few days left of summer, Portland will once again come under a high pressure system that brings dry weather, highs in the 70s, and occasional morning fog beginning Wednesday and lasting into the weekend.

The National Weather Service says the threat of showers are coming to an end early Wednesday and clouds should gradually clear leaving Portland with mostly sunny skies by the afternoon.

A quick check of traffic cameras in the metro area didn't show any fog as of 5:30 a.m., but some fog is possible, especially in outlying areas. Portland should see a high of about 74 degrees.

Thursday may start with patchy fog before 8 a.m. before clearing to sunny skies by late morning. Winds will be calm. The high temperature is expected to reach about 74 degrees.

Friday offers up another partly sunny day with calm winds. The afternoon will warm to about 71 degrees.

Saturday is the last official day of summer with the autumnal equinox happening early Sunday morning. Portland can expect a sunny day Saturday with a high temperature reaching about 74 degrees.

Forecast models are not in agreement about the next system moving into the Pacific Northwest sometime around Sunday. It's likely Portland will see partly sunny skies and a high in the low 70s, but there's some possibility of rain moving into the metro area at least by Sunday night.
