Sep. 13 -- The lockdown at Nimitz has been lifted and parents can pick up their children at this time, if they are able, an Ector County ISD news release said.

According to the release, police have found no evidence of a shooter nor a weapon and are investigating this as hoax intended to cause panic at the school.

"We want to thank Nimitz parents who have been incredibly calm and patient during this incident," the release said.

A large number of parents and police could be seen and Maple Avenue was blocked off at both ends.
