NORMAL - The Picklr, an indoor pickleball facility, will open Saturday, Oct. 26, at 1503 E. College Ave. in Normal. It is the site of the former Gold's Gym and Proving Ground Bouldering Gym.
The Picklr is part of a franchise based in Kaysville, Utah. The Normal location has more than 30,000 square feet, including nine professional-grade, fully fenced, indoor courts, a pro shop, private event space, a dink wall, a warmup area, and lockers and showers, according to a news release.
The grand opening will run from noon to 6 p.m. and will include all-day open play, play with an instructor, catered food and drinks, kids activities, and raffles and prizes, the news release said.
Regular hours of The Picklr will be 6 a.m. to midnight every day.
"The outpouring of excitement we have received has been incredible and we are thrilled to open our doors on October 26th," Picklr franchisee partner Alex Burge stated. "We know the Bloomington-Normal community, and Central Illinois at large, is eager to experience The Picklr. Whether you are a beginner or an aspiring professional, this facility is for you."
The Normal location is part of a national expansion for the franchise, including more than 375 new clubs and roughly 3,750 new courts being built over the next few years, according to the news release.
