A Democrat-aligned group is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to run digital and print ads in major media outlets highlighting the controversial Project 2025 from the conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation.
United for Democracy, a coalition of progressive groups and unions that began in 2023 as a campaign to draw focus on the U.S. Supreme Court ahead of the 2024 election, has reportedly shifted its focus to highlighting Project 2025, a proposed outline for a second Trump administration that former President Donald Trump has disavowed.
Data from the Federal Election Commission shows United for Democracy has spent almost $400,000 to run ads in news outlets such as Politico Playbook linking Trump to Project 2025 in a campaign directed by the progressive marketing firm Bully Pulpit International.
