"Hopewell is so proud to see our hometown hero playing in the CFP National Championship. Tre'Veyon is a great example of the good that comes out of Hopewell. We are rooting for him and can't wait to watch him," Johnny Partin, Mayor of Hopewell, said.

Henderson, 22, was born and raised in Hopewell and is a senior at Ohio State University. His proud parents are LaKeesha Hayes-Winfield and Trenton Henderson. According to his mom, her son's first name contains an apostrophe. It should be spelled like this: Tre'Veyon.

The Ohio State Buckeyes beat the Oregon Ducks 41-21 in the Rose Bowl Game. Henderson scored two touchdowns. His 66-yard touchdown in the second quarter set an Ohio State Rose Bowl record for longest run.

At the Cotton Bowl Classic, Henderson scored a 75-yard touchdown in the second quarter. The Buckeyes won 28-14 over the Texas Longhorns.

"It's exciting to see my son Tre'Veyon and the Ohio State Buckeyes make it to the CFP National Championship Game," Hayes-Winfield said. "They have had an impressive run, defeating Tennessee, Oregon and Texas with strong performances. I am so ready for the game on Monday. Let's Go Bucks!"

The CFP National Championship Game between No. 7 seed Notre Dame and No. 8 seed Ohio State will broadcast nationally on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
