A burn ban has been issued in Muscatine County until further notice. It is ordered that no person shall engage in open burning unless specifically permitted. Any violation of this will be considered a simple misdemeanor. On Oct. 7, Muscatine County Emergency Management Director Chris Jasper, representing the fire departments in Muscatine County, requested the State Fire Marshal's Office prohibit open burning in the county, as conditions are such that open burning constitutes a danger to life and property.
