Jessica Gunning Wins Emmy Award For 'Baby Reindeer'

Netflix's controversial series Baby Reindeer won its first major Emmy Award Sunday night with an Outstanding Supporting Actress statuette for Jessica Gunning for Baby Reindeer.

Baby Reindeer earned 11 Emmy nominations in the Limited or Anthology Series or Movie in July, including the top prize for Outstanding Series. The series also earned an Outstanding Actor nod for Richard Gadd, as well as Outstanding Supporting Actress nods for Jessica Gunning and Nava Maul. Tom Goodman-Hill was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

Gadd also received a writing nomination for Baby Reindeer, while Weronika Tofilska was nominated for Best Direction.

The series came into the night with two Emmy Awards -- for Outstanding Casting and Outstanding Picture Editing -- which it earned at the Television Academy's Creative Arts Emmys.

At the beginning of the first episode of Baby Reindeer, a line appears that notes, "This is a true story." Gadd's then chronicles, through the identity of Donny Dunn, a harrowing encounter with an alleged stalker who he named Martha (Jessica Gunning).
