West Columbia man sentenced after distributing drugs to undercover agents

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A West Columbia man was sentenced to over 16 years in federal prison, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Officials said Reginald Pearson, 40, pleaded guilty to distribution of methamphetamine.

The court was shown evidence that Pearson distributed over 900 grams of meth and 28 grams of cocaine to undercover agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) between Nov. 2022 and Jan. 2023, according to DOJ.

Pearson also sold seven guns, which was an offense due to his status as a felon due to a prior conviction. DOJ said Pearson was classified as a career offender based on six prior drug convictions, including possession with intent to distribute marijuana, cocaine and heroin.

ATF, Homeland Security Investigations, the West Columbia Police Department, the Lexington County Sheriff's Department and the Richland County Sheriff's Department all investigated the case.
