Oct. 10 -- Make it three wins in three races for Emma Robinson.
The Claremore senior dominated the competition once again and topped the field of 102 runners with ease, winning the 5A Girls Championship meet on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Carl Albert in Midwest City. Robinson clocked in at 19 minutes, 24.86 seconds in the 5K race, finishing 36.82 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Abby Lee of Blanchard.
Robinson's victory helped the Lady Zebras secure a sixth-place team finish with 131 points, competing against several top 5A public schools. Carl Albert claimed the girls team title with 61 points.
Eleanor Isaacs (22:52.71), Addison Hamilton (23:15.78) and Chloe Grubbs (23:25.22) contributed strong performances, finishing 23rd, 27th and 30th, respectively. Abbie Douthitt rounded out Claremore's scoring with a time of 25:11.85, placing 53rd overall and 50th among eligible point scorers.
On the boys side, the Zebras finished fourth with 134 points in a competitive field of 14 scoring teams. Tahlequah won the boys team championship with 63 points.
Gabe Rodriguez led the charge, placing fourth with a time of 17:07.54 in a 5K that sported a field of 127 runners.
Levi Craig finished 22nd for the Zebras in 18:24.47, followed by Patrick Mitchell (18:51.01) and Sawyer Beller (18:53.83) in 34th and 35th -- including 33rd and 34th among eligible point scorers. Brayden Frederick closed out the scoring for Claremore with a 44th/41st-place finish at 19:18.44.
