Tuesday weather remains calm in Montana before another surge of wind and moisture

MONTANA - Snow flurries are moving across Montana, shifting from west-central to southwestern and south-central regions this evening. Our radar is expected to clear by Tuesday morning, leaving some unsettled weather in the southwest, with cloudy, dry conditions elsewhere.

Tomorrow morning, there is a 20-30% chance of showers in the west, while central and eastern Montana are expected to remain dry. The big football game in Bozeman this weekend is projected to have highs near 50 degrees and dry weather, providing great conditions for our Cats!

Winter Weather Advisories are set to expire tomorrow morning in western and central Montana, where snow showers occurred today. Tuesday's temperatures will be similar to today's, although today was forecasted as the coolest day of the week.

On Wednesday, a larger surge of moisture is expected to bring snow to mountain passes in western Montana, with little to no accumulation anticipated. The Bitterroot, Missoula, and Flathead Valleys can expect rain or mixed precipitation. High Wind Watches have been issued for Wednesday in central Montana, with winds forecasted to fluctuate between 30 and 40 mph and gusts reaching up to 80 mph.

Tonight, temperatures are projected to be slightly warmer than last night, with areas like Butte and Dillon reaching the upper teens, Missoula and Helena in the low 20s, and Livingston and Billings in the mid-20s.

Over the next seven days, a drying weather pattern is expected for the latter half of the week. Daytime highs are anticipated to return to above-normal temperatures, with several areas reaching the 40s and some the 50s. Cloudy skies are expected for the weekend, with highs lingering in the 40s.

Looking ahead, the 8-14-day temperature outlook for the Christmas holiday and the end of 2024 projects well above-normal temperatures and slightly above-normal precipitation.
