Dennis Miller, The CW Network President, Is Resigning

Dennis Miller, who took over the reins of The CW Network after Nexstar Media Group acquired the network in late 2022, is resigning as president of the broadcast channel, effective at the end of this month.

He will serve in an advisory role through the end of calendar year. Nexstar did not disclose future senior executive plans for the network.

Miller had been on the job since October 2022, after Nexstar bought a 75% stake in the network from co-owners Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global. Previously, Miller was a member of Nexstar's board of directors, which he had been on since 2014.

In two years while president, the CW shifted programming focus from younger-skewing scripted dramas and comedies to unscripted entertainment and other content as well adding sports programs including Nascar Xfinity, ACC college football and basketball, PAC 12 football, LIV Golf, and WWE NXT wrestling.

For the year 2023, The CW posted $250 million in revenue -- up from $66 million the year before. At the same time net losses widened $273 million, up from $94 million.

In the most recent second quarter period ending June 30, 2024, Nexstar said it reduced CW's operating losses by $33 million year over year and $83 million year-to-date.
