The apparent scaling back of the hitstop emerged as a significant point of contention among players following Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta in late October. For those unfamiliar, hitstop is a common fighting mechanic where a hit is perfectly paired with sound and visual feedback and pauses for a fraction of a second to signify a well-delivered and timed blow. Capcom director Tuya Tokuda explains:
"Players around the world have gotten used to that meaty, weighty hitstop action that is kind of one of the hallmarks of Monster Hunter. So hearing that they've accepted that, and they want it back is really interesting, and nice for me to hear."

Capcom will further mitigate friendly fire in the upcoming hack and slash RPG, particularly in major multiplayer attacks where it has proven detrimental. Hammer upswings will now be more precise and less prone to friendly fire, allowing for smoother team coordination during combat.
