Vote for Tribune's football superstar of the week from top 5 performers

The high school football regular season is nearing the halfway mark in Wisconsin while Minnesota teams are starting to roll into the thick of their conference schedules.

Last week, Devin Brown of Westby was voted Tribune football superstar of the week with 44% of the vote. Brown ran for 145 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Black River Falls.

Here's the five star performances from week four. Be sure to vote for your choice of superstar of the week.

Trey Bahr, sr., Aquinas

Bahr kept busy on both sides of the ball for Aquinas in their 38-13 win over G-E-T. The senior wide receiver had two receptions for 53 yards and scored on a 42-yard catch in the third quarter.

While junior wide receiver Logan Becker has been the primary target of senior quarterback Jacob Thornton, Bahr has emerged as a viable target with touchdown receptions in back-to-back games.

On defense, Bahr recorded seven solo tackles and snagged his first interception of the season. Bahr leads the Blugolds (3-1, 2-0)in tackles heading into a meeting of Coulee contenders at Onalaska Luther on Friday.

Ian Kowal, jr., Onalaska

Kowal's best performance of the season helped the Hilltoppers (2-2, 1-1) defeat Central 42-38 and breathed life back into coach Tom Yashinsky's offense.

The quarterback went 20-for-25 for 330 passing yards and five total touchdowns, including a game-winning 41-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Noah Chenault. Kowal scored three TDs in the fourth quarter as Onalaska climbed out of an 11-point deficit.

Kowal found senior wide receiver Broden Steiner for a five-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth, followed later by Kowal's two-yard touchdown run. The Hilltoppers hope the win translates to momentum when they visit Logan.

Reese Ott, sr., Sparta

Ott and the Spartans (3-1, 1-1) rebounded from a conference opening loss, dominating in a 49-21 win over rival Tomah that saw more impressive offensive numbers. The senior carried the ball nine times for 91 yards as the complimentary back to senior running back Cam Taggart's 100 yards and three touchdowns.

Ott's other major offensive contribution came as a receiver, recording four receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns. Ott now has a combined 568 yards and eight touchdowns. The Spartans -- who are averaging 38 points per game -- go on the road to face Reedsburg on Friday.

Blake Thiry, sr., Prairie du Chien

Another week, another outstanding performance for Thiry and the Blackhawks (3-1, 2-0) in their 41-13 win over Platteville. Thiry ran for 211 yards and four touchdowns, marking four straight games with at least 100+ all-purpose yards.

The commit to Indiana University averaged 10.6 yards per carry with his longest run being a 65-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Thiry added 44 yards receiving on three catches and never had to punt in the victory. Prairie du Chien welcomes River Valley to town on Friday.

Alex Von Arx, sr., La Crescent-Hokah

Von Arx had a big night for the Lancers (1-2) in their 36-20 win on the road over P-E-M, becoming the first 100-yard rusher of the season for La Crescent.

Von Arx hit that mark exactly on 15 carries and ran for a three-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. The senior had four catches in the Lancers first two games but his addition to the run game and several TD runs by quarterback Drew Todd helped the offense breakthrough in a nonconference meeting. The Lancers host Triton on Friday.
