Lincoln men use strong start to second half to roll past Mission | Jefferson City News-Tribune

The Lincoln Blue Tigers men's basketball team remained undefeated in non-conference play with a 76-52 victory Monday afternoon against the Mission University Patriots at Jason Gym.

Mission led by as many as four points in the first half, the last time coming at 18-14 with 12 minutes remaining in the first half.

Lincoln then rattled off 11 straight points to take the lead at 25-18. The run started with a layup by Matthieu Biembongo and was capped by a layup by Mikey West. The Blue Tigers stretched their lead to 44-31 at the half, with Tyson Robinson hitting a 3-pointer in the final minute for Lincoln.

Lincoln started the second half with a 14-2 run to take a 58-33 lead. Robinson had the final five points of the spurt.

The Blue Tigers led by as many as 33 points in the final 10 minutes -- that coming when a Xavier Ball 3-pointer gave Lincoln a 74-41 advantage.

Lawson Beem and Eli'jah Smith had 12 points each for Mission (2-9), located in Springfield. Quinn Kusgen (Blair Oaks High School) came off the bench to score five points in 15 minutes, while Ryder Williams (Versailles High School) had three points and five rebounds in 31 minutes.

Franck Yetna led three Lincoln players in double figures with 17 points. Robinson had 16 points off the bench, while Max Ekono chipped in with 11 points and team-high nine rebounds.

Lincoln (8-3, 1-3 GLVC) will play an exhibition Wednesday night against Missouri State in Springfield. The game is set for 7 p.m. (ESPN-Plus).

The Blue Tigers will wrap up non-conference play Sunday with a game against Ohio Dominican in Mattoon, Ill.
