Joan talked about the ending during an interview on Good Morning America on the day of the show premiere. She was asked if she was happy with how the she unfolded.

"Yes, no, yes no. I'm very happy, so there's that. And it evolved exactly like it should, kind of like life always works. It just figures itself out. My season ended exactly like I hoped it would. It's like how life unfolds. It does what it needs to do and I'm at a great place," Joan said.

When the hosts joked that she didn't give anything away, Joan replied, "I know, I'm so vague. I want to tell you so badly!"

Reality Steve noted how The Golden Bachelorette is "way different" than rest of the Bachelor Nation franchise.

He said on his September 30 podcast episode, "Yes. It's at the same mansion. Yes. It's by the same producers. Yes. The format is the same roses, group dates, group date, roses, rose ceremonies, eliminations, all that stuff. But if you watch this show and you compare it to Bachelor and Bachelorette, it's like night and day. They're not trying to make a mockery of their contestants on this show. They actually praise their backstory. They actually want to show you some vulnerability on this show and not call somebody crazy or play crazy music behind them when they're doing or saying stuff. And that's what makes it more interesting. At least for me, it does."
