Ellensburg took a break from CWAC play to take on a team it lost to earlier this season, and the result looked the same as all of the Bulldogs' matches against league opponents.
A hard-fought 25-22, 25-17, 25-23 win gave the Bulldogs their fifth straight sweep and avenged a 20-25, 25-23, 15-9 Davis win in the semifinals on the way to the Pirates' SunDome Volleyball Festival championship last month. Since then Ellensburg's moved up to No. 3 in 2A and won all eight of its matches, including a five-set thriller over 2A No. 1 Burlington-Edison.
Oregon State commit Alana Marrs once again led the Bulldogs offense with a team-high 18 kills, closely followed by 15 for Hazel Murphy, who also tallied 20 digs. Sarah and Ava Stueckle combined for 37 assists for Ellensburg.
After winning in West Valley's nearly decade-old gym for the first time ever last week, Davis lost Thursday night to defending 4A state champion Wenatchee, the team the Pirates (7-3) beat in the SunDome Festival championship. They'll look to snap their only two-game losing streak of the season at home Tuesday against Moses Lake.
Ellensburg (10-1) will travel to East Valley on Tuesday before a home showdown against Wenatchee next Thursday.
