Bow Wow Says He's Able To Separate The Artist From The Music When Talking About R. Kelly And Others; Says He'll Always Be There For Chris Brown: 'That's My Dawg'

While many people may have a tough time separating the artist from the music when it comes to R Kelly and other legendary and iconic artists who've faced allegations and convictions in their personal lives, Bow Wow says he doesn't have a problem, especially when it comes to Chris Brown, whom he claims he "will always be there for."

Recently appearing on former '106 & Park' host Rocsi Diaz's podcast, 'More To The Story,' Bow Wow talks about his relationship with R&B singer Chris Brown and is then asked about how he handles being close to Brown as he makes headlines for allegations in his personal life.

Diaz said, "When you mention Chris -- I mean your relationship with him is special, especially because you both kind of came up at the same time, although he was older than you and started later. When you hear people talking about him being compared to Michael Jackson, and him being a legend -- I think Chris is one of the best to have ever done it. He's super special. But, with CB and Trey [Songz], when you start seeing headlines of their personal lives getting mixed in with the artistry, do you think that for a lot of people, it's hard to separate the artist from the art?"

Speaking on R Kelly, Bow Wow admitted, "I think you definitely can. Not even with bro, but I mean... I'm sure you've attended some R&B parties, sh*t I still [do]. But, you cannot go to R&B parties, especially if B. Cox [Bryan Michael Cox] and Keith [Sweat] [are] doing it, you're gonna hear R. Kelly. You're just gonna hear it. For me, I've been on record saying this. To me, dude is the greatest of all time when it comes to R&B. There's nobody who can touch Kellz, period. But, that's the music though."

Bow added, "[There] is a way to separate this from that. The sh*t is so great. The music is so timeless. It's so great that as much as you hear people say, 'We're never going to play the records again,' it's like, I still hear this sh*t everywhere I go. So, it's kind of like, for me, yes. I remember that moment in time when I first heard that song and I heard that record and I know how it made me feel. That feeling will never go away 'cause when I hear that record, it's going to take me right back to that spot in life where I was at. So, it's hard for us to get rid of those."

Bow Wow continued, "For me, I've always been able to [separate the two]." He then shared a disclaimer and noted, "Now, if it's something crazy..." Diaz interrupted and added, "You have to think about it, you have a daughter. So, when you hear rumors come out with certain artists that may have caused physical violence to a woman. You know, all of the things that are happening right now and circling the industry -- it's scary right now. People that are close friends. You have a daughter, so how does that change your perception about how you move with some of these people?"

Bow explained, "For me, I would be lying if I told you that me and Shai don't talk about [things]. You got to think, she's on the internet, so she sees everything. She's friends with a lot of celebrity kids. So, of course, she'll come to me and ask me certain things, but she's at the age where she knows. It even goes back to the question that you asked me about even being selective with the women I talk to or I date. It just happens. It's nothing I sit and think about it. Life is just funny."

Bow Wow continued, "I love my daughter so much. She's my everything. There's no way that I'mma ever bring somebody around her or I feel like it's harmful for me... I'm very, very cautious and if Shai was here, she would be like, 'My dad don't play. He is very strict. He plays, but when it comes to that 'Dad stuff,' he don't play around.' Boys, she already knows that. She's been knowing that since 4."

He noted, "And plus, I'm real with her. I tell her, 'Nobody's played the game like your daddy. There's no way I'm ever going to let you get played with. Anything you need to know, you can come to me for it. I'm going to give it to you straight up and down.' She's been to plenty of dad's concerts. She knows what's good and what's not good."

Bow Wow continued, "Bringing it back to me. For me, just from a loyalty standpoint. When it comes to Brown, who I not even consider... I mean that's my best friend, just period. I think the world understands I'm going to ride with my man 1000%, 'cause I know bro's going to do the same thing for me. That's just the friend in me. I know how to separate the two. But, I'm going to always ride for my dawg, though. Brown, that's my dawg. Him, crazy a** Soulja [Boy], that's my boy. That's my dawg. But, Brown, that's my brother. I'mma always be there for him. That's my dawg."
