Former Browns RB Slams Deshaun Watson Over Comments About Teammates, Trust

The walls appear to be crumbling around Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, and one of his former teammates is piling on.

Jordan Wilkins -- previously a running back for the Browns -- took to Instagram on Thursday, September 12, where he called out Watson for comments he made about his current teammates amid both the QB's struggles on the field and a new allegation of sexual assault and battery off of it.

The remarks to which Wilkins took exception included Watson contending that his teammates trust him because of his "aura."

"I mean the trust has always been there. You know, so I think the guys, they trust me. If there's anything that's out there, you can go ask any one of those guys and they'll give you an honest answer," Watson said during a press conference Wednesday. "They see me each and every day. They know exactly who I am, and I think that's the difference. When you're around me each and every day, you know my aura, you know my energy, you know my character -- I think you'll understand who I really am."

Brad Stainbrook of The Orange and Brown Report created an X post highlighting two clips from Wilkins' Instagram story that detail his burn of Watson and his perspective on aura.

"Yehh yehh, sure bro," Wilkins wrote. "Watch the next slide and y'all tell me. And this was the final preseason game to make the roster."

The next segment of Wilkins' IG story highlighted Watson badly botching a handoff to the former Browns running back and included a caption of its own.

"[Watson] went to the sideline and told the coaches [that] I didn't know the play," Wilkins said. "And then it happened again the next drive."

Cleveland ultimately released Wilkins ahead of the final roster cut of the summer. He is currently a free agent.

Watson is 8-5 as Cleveland's starter in the 13 games he's actually played since joining the team in March 2022.

He missed 11 contests that year due to violating the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy, a punishment tied to more than two dozen allegations of sexual misconduct filed against him from his time as a member of the Houston Texans. Watson then missed another 11 games last season due to a shoulder injury.

The Browns are 0-1 this year after a blowout home loss to the Dallas Cowboys, in which Watson threw for 169 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs.
