In the Los Angeles Lakers 111-97 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday evening, Austin Reaves was one of the few players on their roster who didn't play poorly.
He shot 3-of-8 from the field and 2-of-6 from 3-point range, but he did a pretty good job of getting to the free throw line, where he made five of his six attempts. Overall, he scored 13 points in just 17 minutes.
Head coach JJ Redick told the media before the game that Reaves would be on a minutes restriction as a precaution since the guard has been dealing with an ankle ailment. Afterward, Reaves said he felt good during the game and still felt good after the game.
Obviously, the preseason isn't the time for players who are playing on an injury to extend themselves and risk either aggravating that injury or suffering a new one as a result.
Reaves didn't play in the Lakers' third preseason game last Thursday against the Milwaukee Bucks because of his ankle problem. Overall, he has struggled with his shooting in October, but a fair number of people feel that Redick will unlock a new level of productivity in his game.
