A 29-year-old New Castle man was killed early Saturday in a three-vehicle crash that closed the south lanes of I-95 for hours.
The collision occurred near Churchman's Marsh around 4:18 a.m., according to Delaware State Police.
The New Castle man was driving a Kia Forte south when, for an unknown reason, he veered onto the right shoulder and struck a Freightliner bucket truck that had stopped on the shoulder to investigate a problem. The Kia swerved back onto the highway and struck a Hyundai Tucson, police said.
The driver of the Kia was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from his car, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released, pending notification of family.
The truck driver, a 61-year-old man from Mineral Point, Wisconsin, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Hyundai driver, a 45-year-old Bear man, was not injured, police said.
I-95 reopened around 9 a.m.
