The hope when the Arizona Cardinals selected wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. in the 2024 NFL draft was that he would turn into one of the league's truly elite receivers. To date, he's shown flashes, such as his 130 yard game against the Los Angeles Rams and his 111 yard game against the Miami Dolphins, but the consistency has not been there. He has only surpassed 50 yards in one other game.
This week marks a new test for Harrison as he will face off against the New York Jets elite secondary, which includes perennial All Pro candidate Sauce Gardner at cornerback. The Cardinals selected Harrison with the hope that he'd be able to dominate in games like this, so you'd have to imagine this game has been circled on his calendar all year long.
On the other hand, this serves as a chance for Sauce to lock down a budding star and to remind everyone just how good he is when he's at his best.
Overall, this is one of the most fascinating matchups of the week and it's one that I will be following closely on Sunday.
Beyond that, this showdown between Gardner and Harrison will likely go a long way in determining the outcome of the game, as the Cardinals are 2-0 when Harrison clears 100 yards. If Sauce can limit Harrison's success, then this should give the Jets a strong chance to win.
What do you think? Will Gardner get the better of Harrison or will it be the other way around on Sunday?
