OPINION: Six arrested, cited in disturbances in Jacksonville; police called to large fight at lake

Six people were arrested or cited in separate disturbances within hours of each other Sunday.

Police were called to Point 9 on Lake Jacksonville about 12:03 a.m. for a fight involving at least 20 people, according to a police report.

After the fracas was calmed, police arrested Bryant D. Lynch, 37, of Jacksonville on a charge of domestic violence. He was accused of hitting his girlfriend and causing visible injuries, according to police.

Police said Lynch tried to obstruct officers during his arrest. He was charged with two counts of resisting a peace officer, according to the report.

A second man, Demontae L. Harris, 19, of Jacksonville, was also arrested on charges of resisting a peace officer and obstructing a peace officer, police said.

About 90 minutes later, police were called to a report of a disturbance in the 200 block of West Morgan Street that resulted in two people being arrested and two others being cited.

Officers arrived to find several people fighting in a nearby parking lot.

Tyleya L. Morgan, 19, of Springfield and Tommytra Z. Lovelace, 20, of Springfield were arrested on charges of resisting a peace officer and cited on charges of disorderly conduct-fighting, according to a police report.

Tyeare J. Lovelace, 21, of Springfield was cited on a charge of disorderly conduct-fighting, and Joshua M. Newingham, 26, of Patterson was cited on charges of disorderly conduct-intoxication and possession of alcohol on city property, according to police.
