The Washington State volleyball team rallied from two sets down to secure a thrilling 23-25, 20-25, 25-16, 25-22, 15-13 win over Saint Mary's on Saturday in Moraga, Calif.
Katy Ryan led the way for the Cougars with a career-high 30 kills, including the final two in the fifth set to secure the win, and a .531 hitting percentage.
Breccan Scheck also hit over .500, finishing at .529 with 11 kills for Washington State (10-5, 5-1 WCC).
Italia Bernal racked up a career-high 61 assists and four blocks to go with 14 digs, two aces and two kills.
Bernal's 61 assists were the most by a Washington State player since Hannah Pukis had 62 against Utah in 2019.
Ryan's big day also helped her creep up Washington State's all-time lists in a few categories.
Ryan now has 1,216 career points, good for 10th all-time at WSU. Her career attack percentage now sits at .278, sixth best in program history.
* Seattle Pacific lost to host Simon Fraser 30-28, 16-25, 25-19, 25-20. Sydney Perry had 12 kills and Emily Tulino added 21 digs for the Falcons (2-13, 2-5 GNAC)
SOCCER
* Kendall Campbell scored as the Washington State women (5-4-5, 2-1-2 WCC) played to a 1-1 draw with visiting Portland.
* Kailee Wilson broke a scoreless deadlock with a goal in the 85th minute and the Seattle U women (8-2-4, 3-0-1 WAC) beat visiting Tarleton State 1-0.
* Connor Tollan scored the lone goal for the Seattle Pacific men 4-3-2, 1-1-1 GNAC) in a 4-1 loss to visiting Western Oregon.
GOLF
* Natalie Eklund shot a team-best 78 for Seattle Pacific in a dual match with Saint Martin's at Druids Glen Golf Course in Covington.
CROSS COUNTRY
* Seattle Pacific's Annika Esvelt finished the 6-kilometer Lewis Cross Country Course in 21 minutes, 27.75 seconds, good for a 13th-place finish at the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville, Ill.
SWIMMING
* The Seattle U men finished in third place at the Roadrunner Invite in Bakersfield, Calif.
* Nathan Pilling scored twice and the host Seattle Thunderbirds (4-4-1-0) scored twice in the third period to rally for a 6-5 win over the Portland Winterhawks.
* Carter Bear scored twice in a four-goal opening period and the visiting Everett Silvertips (7-2-0-0) rolled to a 6-3 win over the Swift Current Broncos.
