TV fans are getting a double dose of Emmys action this year thanks to the writers and actors strike in Hollywood pushing the 75th edition of the awards to January. Dorchester native Ayo Edebiri won big last time around, taking home the trophy for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series earlier this year for her work on FX's "The Bear." This time her role on the show has earned her a nomination in the outstanding lead actress in a comedy series category, where she faces off against the likes of "Hacks" star Jean Smart, "Only Murders in the Building" star Selena Gomez, and "Palm Royale" star Kristen Wiig.

Meanwhile, leading the pack overall is the FX drama "Shogun," which earned a total of 25 nominations at the 2024 Emmy Awards, including a nod for outstanding drama series, where it squares off with fellow nominees "Slow Horses," "Fallout," "The Crown," and other hit series. "Shogun" actor Hiroyuki Sanada is also nominated for outstanding lead actor in a drama series, taking on "Slow Horses" star Gary Oldman, "Fallout" star Walton Goggins, and "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" star Donald Glover, among others.

This year's hosts are making history as well, with "Schitt's Creek" stars Eugene Levy and Dan Levy becoming the first father-son duo to host the ceremony.
