The Ohio State Highway Patrol says that they are investigating a two-vehicle crash in Highland County that left 1 dead and 3 injured Friday evening.The crash happened at the intersection of State Route 73 and Prospect Road in Washington Township at approximately 6:21 p.m.A preliminary investigation from OSHP found that a 2011 Ford Focus being operated by a 54-year-old male driver was traveling westbound on Prospect Road. Meanwhile, a 2013 Chevrolet Impala was being operated by Tamara A. Frazer, 45, as she was traveling southbound on State Route 73.Police said the collision occurred when the driver of the Ford Focus failed to stop at a stop sign and struck Frazer in the intersection.Both vehicles traveled off the right side of State Route 73 before coming to a stop in a ditch.Frazer was transported to Miami Valley Hospital via helicopter, where she was later pronounced dead.The driver of the Ford Focus sustained what officials are calling potentially "life-threatening" injuries and was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center via helicopter.Two other passengers were also present in the Ford Focus at the time of the crash. One sustained "serious" injuries, while another sustained "minor" injuries.Frazer was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, while the driver of the Ford Focus was not.The Ohio State Highway Patrol says that they were assisted at the scene by the Highland County Sheriff's Office, Paint Creek EMS, Peebles EMS, Air Evac, and CareFlight.
