Longtime 'SportsCenter' Anchor Linda Cohn Lands New Job

The Seattle Kraken have started a new network ahead of the 2024-25 NHL season, and they've put together a cast of notable names to cover the team during the upcoming campaign.

One longtime ESPN anchor will be a part of the new network, offering her experience and expertise with the sport of hockey.

The Kraken have hired ESPN's Linda Cohn to join their Kraken Sports Network, branding that will cover non-nationally televised games in the local Seattle market.

Cohn will host at least 15 games for the team this season, with Ian Furness assuming the role for the other games on the schedule.

Cohn is making her return to Seattle, where she previously worked for KIRO TV.

"It's a big reason why I'm doing this," she said in a press release announcing her role with the team.

"Besides the fact that the Kraken are an amazing organization and there's so much promise with this team, it's personal for me to be back in Seattle. It's a city that I'll always love forever because it's a family connection."

Cohn also says that she's excited to take on a different challenge after focusing on ESPN and "SportsCenter" for so many years.

"I've spent, like, a million years at 'SportsCenter' - well, 32 years and I'm still doing it," Cohn said.

"But here is an opportunity to join a team. A real team, right? Again, it's for 15 or 18 games, whatever it is. We don't have the exact number down. But that's what I'm really excited about as a former goalie. Just missing that team situation."

Cohn and Furness will join a team of mostly returning names from the Kraken's local broadcast crew last season, including former players JT Brown and Eddie Olczyk.

The Kraken will begin the 2024-25 NHL season on October 8, at home against the St. Louis Blues.
