Prep Girls Tennis Roundup: Laguna Blanca, Carpinteria High Win Matchups | Sports | Noozhawk

Laguna Blanca girls tennis captured a 6-3 victory over Cabrillo High on the road on Friday.

The Owls dominated doubles play, as the three Laguna Blanca teams went undefeated en route to the team win.

"Cabrillo High School plays in the Sunset League, so the Owls had to modify their lineup to match their structure," Laguna Blanca coach Santiago Segovia said. "After those last-minute changes, the players adapted quickly and played amazing tennis."

Laguna Blanca will begin Tri-Valley League action next Thursday.

The Warriors pulled out a close win over the Lancers at home on Friday.

"There were a lot of close sets throughout, with each school winning their fair share of them." Carpinteria coach Charles Bryant said. "There were also some one-sided matches, again, with each team winning their share.

"But the match went down to the wire and the Warrior girls had a great third round, winning four of the six points to give us the edge."

The trio of Izzy Scott and Valeria Zamora and Aubrey Alcaraz turned in strong days in singles action, as each player went 2-1 on the day.

In doubles, Keyla Manriquez and Charlotte Cooney won all three of their matchups while Mina Handall/Emily Banks and Karolina Casas/Sofia Gonzalez rounded out the scoring with one win apiece.

Carpinteria (5-1, 1-0 CCL) will host Malibu on Tuesday to continue Citrus Coast League play.
