BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Incumbent 5th District Supervisor Leticia Perez did not appear for a scheduled KGET debate Thursday.
Perez was invited by KGET for a televised debate with Kim Salas -- Perez's opponent in the 5th District Kern County Supervisors race.
The debate aired on KGET at 7 p.m. on Oct. 17.
KGET originally scheduled the debate for Oct. 3 with Perez agreeing to appear, but Perez backed out. KGET then gave the Perez campaign two dates for a televised debate -- Oct. 14 and Oct. 17 -- and KGET never heard back.
Perez has also previously declined to appear for a scheduled KGET debate -- in 2020, Perez skipped a 5th District debate with four other candidates. In 2022, Perez also did not appear for a debate in her 35th District Assembly race against Dr. Jasmeet Bains.
