BELTON - The Brenham Cubs fell behind by two touchdowns but roared back for a 42-24 victory over the Belton Tigers in a regular-season finale on Thursday night.
Brenham running back Jakoby Dixon put the finishing touches on the Cubs' unbeaten run through District 10-5A Division II with a touchdown run of 83 yards in the closing minutes of third quarter to end the scoring.
Dixon also scored on an 18-yard run to pull Brenham within 21-14 but the Tigers added a field goal just before halftime to make it 24-14.
Brenham's Tristin Shugart caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Keith Crawford to pull the Cubs within 24-21 and Dixon's 8-yard touchdown run put A&M in the lead for good.
Crawford also threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to Chris Guidry to give the Cubs a 7-6 lead.

The seventh-ranked Cubs (9-1, 5-0) fell behind 21-7 as Belton's Will Shepard scored on runs of 1 and 49 yards. The Tigers (3-7, 2-3) would have clinched a playoff spot with the victory. Belton could still make the playoffs if University beats Killeen Ellison or Rudder loses to Waco.
Brenham will play Texas City next Friday at Cub Stadium in bi-district.
