Watch Devotees Sip AC Water, Mistaking It For Lord Krishna's 'Charan Amrit'; The Internet Has Thoughts

In yet another episode of superstitious practices plaguing religion, devotees were recorded sipping water from a sacred elephant sculpture outlet that was dubbed 'Charan Amrit' (nectar from the feet) of lord Krishna at the Banke Bihari temple in Mathura Vrindavan. Spoiler alert: It was air conditioning water that was dripping off the outlet. Despite warnings and viral reels exposing the truth about the Charan Amrit, devotees continued to consume the AC water. Some just touched the vent and blessed themselves; others collected the same in paper cups. The incident is reminiscent of a similar event in Mumbai in 2012, where devotees flocked to sip water from a Jesus statue's feet. It was dubbed a miracle until the source of water was revealed -- faulty plumbing. The holy water was but water from the toilet! Eww! 🤮

Reactions poured in with several dropping memes, even as many seemed perplexed at the IQ of commoners who would not apply an iota of reason or critical thinking before hopping on the bandwagon like sheeples led to slaughter. 'Dharam ka afeem' (religion's opioid for the masses) quipped one, while others lamented that it's still dark ages in 2024. Another user jibed that this could have brought them business if they merely installed an idol by their AC water drip. One user was fascinated and furious as to how savarna bhakts would drink charan amrit but not touch water from a dalit's hands!

Meanwhile, Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips, an Indian hepatologist and clinician-scientist aka 'The Liver Doc', warned of the ill-effects of consuming AC water. Citing peer-reviewed evidence, the good doctor warned not to sip the air conditioning water as it can potentially cause 1) Legionnaires disease caused by the bacterial species with the same name; 2) Pontiac fever that can even prove fatal; and 3) Legionella pneumonia that can lead to brain dysfunction and other nerve-related severe ailments, among other ill effects.
