Free viewing parties for what could be the lone debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will be held Tuesday throughout Los Angeles County.
Among them:
Women's March Action will host a "Latinos con Kamala" watch party at its Boyle Heights office, 1862 E. 1st St., beginning at 4 p.m.
The doors to the Susan Bay Nimoy and Leonard Nimoy Studio at the Hammer Museum will open at 4:30 p.m. with pre-debate coverage beginning at 5 p.m.
An LGBTQ+ viewing party hosted by comedian Mark Serittalas with "Debate Bingo" led by actress Roxy Wood and LGBTQ+ leaders set to attend will be held at the Beaches Tropicana bar in West Hollywood, with doors opening at 5 p.m.
Parties organized by various Republican organizations will begin at 5 p.m. at Dave & Buster's in Westchester, at 5:30 p.m. at Rock & Brews in Redondo Beach and at 5:45 p.m. at 963 W. Avenue J in Lancaster, with an RSVP to [email protected] required.
Doors for a nonpartisan watch party at The Continental Club in downtown Los Angeles will open at 5 p.m.
The 90-minute debate from the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia is set to begin at 6 p.m. It will be moderated by David Muir, the anchor and managing editor of ABC's "World News Tonight," and Linsey Davis, the anchor of the Sunday edition of "World News Tonight" and the ABC News Live newscast "Prime."
The debate will be simulcast ABC, CBS, NBC, Telemundo, Univision, CNN, Fox News Channel, MSNBC, Fox Business Network, the Public Broadcasting Service, KTLA-TV Channel 5, KTTV-TV Channel 11 and other television and radio outlets.
Trump won the coin toss and chose to select the order of the two-minute closing statements, and opted to make the final closing statement. Harris selected the right podium position on screen, stage left.
Muir and Davis will be the only people asking questions. The candidates will not be permitted to ask questions of each other.
Props or prewritten notes are not allowed onstage. No topics or questions will be shared in advance with campaigns or candidates. Candidates will be given a pen, a pad of paper and a bottle of water.
The candidates will have two-minute answers to questions, two-minute rebuttals, and one extra minute for follow-ups, clarifications or responses.
The candidates' microphones will be live only for the candidate whose turn it is to speak, and muted when the time belongs to the other candidate.
Campaign staff may not interact with candidates during the two commercial breaks.
Moderators will seek to enforce timing agreements and ensure a civilized discussion, according to ABC.
