Man charged with DUI after leading Capitol police on chase

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) - Capitol police arrested a man after he allegedly led officers on a chase and ran his vehicle into their patrol cars.

Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Woodrow Wilson Avenue near N. West Street on Wednesday, December 11.

She said the driver failed to yield and led officers on a brief chase, which ended near Peachtree Street when the driver ran his vehicle into the patrol cars.

The driver was identified as Cody Herrington, 22. He was arrested at the scene with no further incident. No injuries were reported.

Herrington has been charged with driving under the influence, failure to yield to emergency equipment, two counts of simple assault on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, and a seatbelt violation.
