We're among the first to sail on the new Disney Treasure. Here's what to expect.

USA TODAY's consumer travel reporter Zach Wichter got an inside look at the newest Disney ship, Disney Treasure.

Like Aladdin invites Jasmine to a whole new world, guests are invited to experience their favorite Disney films and theme park attractions in a new way aboard Disney Cruise Line's newest ship, the Disney Treasure.

Whether they're stepping into the palatial Grand Hall inspired by "Aladdin" or sitting back at the Skipper Society lounge, with skippers from the Jungle Cruise ride, guests will feel like they're part of the story.

USA TODAY was invited to be among the first to sail on the Disney Treasure ahead of its maiden voyage. Here's what travelers should know.

The Disney Treasure isn't just a ship for Disney lovers, it's also for those of us who love Disney parks, with numerous spaces on board designed in tribute to the parks. Beyond Skipper Society, the ship is home to the Periscope Pub, inspired by 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, which was both a Disney film and ride, sunsetted at Walt Disney World but remaining at Tokyo DisneySea.

It also houses Haunted Mansion Parlor, Disney's first lounge designed in homage to the popular attraction. An attraction unto itself, the parlor is jam-packed with Easter eggs from its namesake ride, as well as a new storyline centered on a ship captain and his spooky bride. Guests can easily spend an hour inside, marveling at how the portraits' eyes move and their subjects' appearances decay over time, then come back to discover something new, by sitting elsewhere in the room.

Other ship experiences are inspired by films, such as the live musical dinner show Plaza de Coco, Disney's first stage adaptation of "Moana" and Scat Cat Lounge, which pays tribute to "The Aristocats."

The Disney Treasure will sail seven-night itineraries in the Eastern and Western Caribbean from its home port of Port Canaveral, Florida.

The Disney Treasure has a capacity of 4,000 passengers and 1,555 crew, according to Disney Cruise Line.

Prices vary by date and the number of guests sharing a cabin, but the lowest, non-discounted price for two adults in an inside stateroom on a seven-night sailing was listed at $4,361 as of Dec. 9. That's total for the stateroom - not per person - including all taxes, fees and port charges. Less expensive options may have been previously available but are sold out.

Disney Treasure is Disney Cruise Line's sixth ship.

It's a sister ship of the Disney Wish, which debuted in 2022.

The Disney Destiny, another ship in the Wish style of ships, will mark its maiden voyage on Nov. 20, 2025, sailing to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The Disney Adventure will debut Dec. 15, 2025, with a home port of Singapore.

"The demand on our existing cruise fleet is very, very high, so we know there's a big opportunity here to invest aggressively in incremental cruise ships," Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro told USA TODAY when the latest fleet expansion was announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event over the summer.
